barrel shortened and fixed,rear sight fitted and bolt catch fitted.the rear sight is cut and filed in the usual way and then glued into place,i managed to get a pretty good radius under the sight useing a metal rod wraped in sand paper to the right circumference for the final finish,its also screwed on in two places ,one screw through the spring plate mount and the other at the rear in an original countersunk hole.the bolt catch is also screwed in place.
the outer barrel is mounted into an alluminium sleve and then into the front of the vrs outer barrel just in front of the hop.
ive also decided i dont like the way the front barrel band is held on by that plastic strip on the right of the gun,im planning on extending the thread on the cleaning rod and haveing the cleaning rod screw into the wood under the band whitch i just xcant understand why dboys didnt do in the first place?

have fitted the magazine release button into mine today and fettled the magwell a bit to make it a bit better for the mag, was a bit too tight

cut the mag well and fitted the catch,just need to fettle it a bit so the mag drops out nicely but it feeds well.also finished the hop adjuster,im useing a grub screw under the sight leaf as per the original dboys system but slightly further forward so i had to use a dremel diamond dust cutter to put a hole in the sping steel plate for the leaf,i could have just called it a laf spring couldent i 
.ive allso drilled and tapped a second bolt hole forward of the mag plate through the wood and into the bolt houseing,nice and solid.and ive extended the thread on the barrel cleaning rod so it now screws int the wood behind making the front barrel band more secure and makeing the cleaning rod less likely to become loose.
all thats left is to add the larger diameter piece to the bolt housing at the front, strip and re-stain the wood and re-paint the metalwork.

What spring is going in it?????
the sping is the one that came with the vsr clone but my crono died 
so i cant test it but at a guess its a bit of a monster judging by the pull to cock it and the range i'd be suprised if it was less than 500fps by mutch but dont worry at least this time you wont be faceing it,ive already talked to Vince about the wisdom of getting a second bolt with a lower power set up as a drop in unit but its his call, he wants to use his mp40 for sevastopol anyway.

how did you manage to screw the rear sight on? doesn't seem a lot to screw into without affecting the bolt??
the barrel tube is nearly 1.5mm thick useing an m3 by 0.5 thread you get nearly 3 turns of thread,thats in the hole at the rear thats there already i also used the screw that holds the bracket for the spring and as ive used a grub screw for hop asdjustment about half way along the thread for that passes through both the sight and the barrel giveing further support.you could also fit a screw right at the front as that would be above the hop and could be left longer and not foul the bolt.i had to cut the screws verry acuratly to length so they are flush but you also have to remember that the bolt is a fair bit smaller than the houseing that it slides in because its supported by the two plastic rings that reduce friction whitch are fitted at either end of the bolt houseing, so even if the screws are a little proud inside you'l still get away with it.plus ive got a phobia about useing glue,i know everybody else uses it to atatch the sight but i just know in would fall of if i did.

I screwed the rear sights onto mine too with the last two I built. As you say, plenty on metal in the tube wall for the screw to get a good purchase. With mine I screwed it on and then used a curved file inside the tube to file down the end of the screw.

also I'm about to order some Milliput, which stuff did you fellas use? theres black, standard yellow/grey, superfine white, silver 
I will probably get the black to fill in round the rear site etc, also I dont have a Dboys bolt so I wont be using the cocking handle, just the standard vsr one, so will be using it for the 'ball' on the handle
unless someone has a spare bolt kicking about?????
Just had a thought, does anyone still have the vsr back piece of the bolt? the piece that the allen bolt goes through? I could possibly mould it over with black milliput then shape it roughly the same as the K98 part with my dremel
yup got one of those you can have,pm me you'r adress and ill pop it in the post so long as you can cover the enourmouse cost of postage.domt know mutch about milliput ,i usually use quick-steel another epoxy putty that moulds like plastercine and sets hard enough to tap a thread into.
